The Mind as a Battlefield : Premiered at REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival

Regional cinema shines once again at the 2026 REGARD Festival with La tête en champ de bataille, a moving and deeply human short film directed by Anaë Bilodeau and Louis‑Pierre Cossette. Supported by the Saguenay Film Office, the film is featured in the Official Competition – Program 4, where it is presented in its world premiere.

A sensitive and striking animated documentary

Blending animation and documentary, La tête en champ de bataille follows David, a 45‑year‑old veteran who confides in his younger brother about the inner battle he faces as he works to regain balance after invisible wounds. The film approaches themes of trauma, brotherhood, and resilience with nuance and emotional depth, offering an intimate look at a reality rarely portrayed on screen. Its hybrid artistic approach makes it one of the standout works of the 2026 selection.

A local creation driven by regional talent

Produced by FIZ Studio and distributed by La Distributrice de films, the short film highlights the region’s expertise in animation, sound design, and visual storytelling. The involvement of the Saguenay Film Office reflects its commitment to supporting ambitious projects that showcase local creativity and contribute to the growth of auteur cinema in the region.
